Dr. Achal Achrol, MD

Achal is a board-certified neurosurgeon who has led brain tumor, stroke and neuroscience translational research programs in academic university hospitals, health systems and industry. Achal received his M.D. from Stanford University, where he completed neurosurgical training and post-doctoral fellowships. Achal has served as a PI in several international clinical trials in brain tumors, stroke, neuromodulation and therapeutic delivery across the Blood Brain Barrier (BBB). Achal has received numerous awards in neurosurgery including notably the Mahaley Awards and Academy Awards of the AANS, CNS and AAcNS. Achal serves as CMO of Insightec, the leader in focused ultrasound technology for noninvasive brain therapies (“incisionless neurosurgery”) where he achieved FDA “Breakthrough Therapy” Designation and oversaw clinical programs in >30 countries, including clinical trials in movement disorders, Parkinson's, Alzheimer's, neuro-oncology, CNS drug delivery, immunotherapy, epilepsy, pain, addiction and neuro-psychiatry.
