About the Role

As a Senior Mechanical Engineer at Openwater, you will be responsible for mechanical design and NPI aspects for the development of our products. You will work closely with other members of our team developing, tooling, integrating and miniaturizing multiple parts of the system. The candidate must be a pro-active, strong problem solver, and a creative engineer who can design and implement the product requirements as we move towards volume manufacturing and FDA submissions. We are looking for an extremely energetic, creative, self-motivated, hands-on engineer to join our team.

Requirements

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Responsibilities include product and tooling design as well as development, testing and evaluation of electro-mechanical performance parameters at both the component and system level. A successful candidate is expected to perform the following essential tasks:

  • Participate in the conceptual system design, working closely with optical, laser, and ultrasound design staff.

  • Performs a range of design development, new product introduction and design reviews independently.

  • Create process instructions to assist builds and testing systems.

  • Create and prove out tooling manufacturing fixtures.


Qualifications and Skills:

  • B.S. in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering, or equivalent.

  • 5-15 years of industry experience in the development in the medical (or another highly regulated) industry, including shipping of products at volume.

  • Experience with DFM for state-of-the-art compact electro-mechanical components.

  • Highly experienced in CAD tools specifically SolidWorks and PDM.

  • Strong expertise in parts fabrication including rapid prototyping, 3D printing, laser cutting, and using general machine shop tools.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills needed.

  • US Work authorization required.
