About the Role
As a Senior Instrumentation Software Engineer at Openwater, you will be responsible for planning and executing software development to control preclinical and clinical devices. You must be a proactive, strong problem solver, and a creative engineer who can design and implement software to control various instrumentation setups. We are looking for an extremely energetic, self-motivated individual who takes initiative in a constantly-changing working environment.
Requirements
Responsibilities and Duties:
Integrating the control of a variety of hardware and software components into one coherent package to be used by preclinical scientists and/or clinicians
Interface with cross-functional team of engineers, biologists, and medical professionals
Independently write robust, extremely reliable code, including verification and validation testing, to control therapeutic devices
Follow guidelines and practices for adherence to FDA regulatory standards when necessary
Perform hands-on debugging of hardware-software systems when bugs and/or malfunction occur
Qualifications and Skills:
B.S. (or beyond) in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent discipline
At least 5 years of industry experience, preferably in the medical device industry
At least 2 years experience with hardware integration and system bring-up
Extremely familiar with Python & Matlab, specifically for controlling instrumentation
Experience using and/or manipulating 3D medical image datasets
Knowledge of the software development life cycle, including automated tests
Basic familiarity with GUI development
Excellent written and verbal communication skills required
Preferred experience with:
Using and/or controlling RF electronics
Ultrasound
Software quality assurance methodologies
FDA regulatory standards pertaining to software (IEC 62304, ISO 14971, etc.)
PyQt, Qt, C++
US work authorization required
